Weathering Techniques for Railway Modeller's - George Dent (TBA)

£99.00 inc.VAT
(£82.50 ex.VAT)

The Airbrush Company presents a 'Weathering Techniques for Railway Modeller's' training course with George Dent.
George Dent

George Dent has been an active modeller for over 20 years and has been the resident model-maker for Model Rail magazine since 2004.

As well as working for one of Britain's best-selling hobby magazines, George has also published a number of widely acclaimed books and instructional DVDs on various aspects of railway modelling.

Model by George Dent

In this course you will learn the importance of weathering and reasons for weathering a model, tools and the right equipment for the job, including weathering with an airbrush. You will also learn special techniques such as buffing and distressing.

This one-day Weathering course follows on from George's Airbrushing for railway modellerís course, which covers the basics of general airbrushing. Weathering for railway modellerís can be attended as a class on its own and is aimed at modeller's who want to advance their existing airbrushing skills and apply weathering techniques. For the airbrushing component of this class, we recommend you already have experience with the basic control of an airbrush, or have attended Georgeís Airbrushing for railway modellerís course or the Modeller's Beginning Airbrushing Course.

This is your opportunity to learn how to achieve the perfect finish with an airbrush. The training room is fully equipped with the highest quality equipment available on the market - Iwata airbrushes and compressors.

What is provided:

  • Students will be supplied with an airbrush, equipment and paint for the duration of the course

  • Some scrap models will be provided for students to practice basic techniques on but students are required to provide a few models themselves (see below for details)

You will also need:

  • Models to work on Ė George recommends you bring at least 3 or 4 scrap models for practising on, preferably clean and dismantled ready for painting to obtain the best experience from this course. George also suggests that you bring one 'good' model on which to work on near the end of the session with your newfound skills. Your models can be anything from a wagon or locomotive to a station building, regardless of scale (but please bear in mind that there will be limited workspace so please donít bring anything too big! For large-scale modellerís ('O' gauge and above), please donít bring a model larger than a wagon or small loco body). You may email George on dentmodelmaker@yahoo.co.uk to check on suitability of your models in advance.
