Course content:

  • How airbrushes work
  • Paint thinning
  • Surface preparation
  • Working with acrylics and enamels, plus primers and clear coats
  • Creating an even finish
  • Masking
  • Airbrush cleaning and maintenance

What is provided:

  • Students will be supplied with an airbrush, equipment and paint for the duration of the course
  • Students will have the opportunity to buy airbrush equipment and paint on the day
    Model by George Dent
  • Some scrap models will be provided for students to practice basic techniques, but students are required to provide a few models themselves (see below for details)
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served during the course

You will also need:

  • Models to work on – To obtain the best experience from this course, George recommends you bring at least 3 or 4 scrap models for practicing on, preferably cleaned and dismantled ready for painting.
  • Spare locomotive or rolling stock bodies are particularly recommended. For large-scale modellers ('O' gauge and above), please don’t bring anything too big, as there will be limited workspace - a wagon or small loco body will be ideal.
  • You may email George on dentmodelmaker@yahoo.co.uk to check on suitability of your models in advance.
