HR Hobbies Metallic Lacquers are designed to be used on surfaces previously primed using any one of the HR Hobbies Surface Primers. Unrivalled metallic finishes are simple to achieve using the instructions provided on the bottle labels.
To achieve a 'non-reflective' finish, we recommend using HR Hobbies Metallic Lacquers over Grey, White and/or Black Primer and Microfillers. To achieve a 'reflective' finish, we recommend using HR Hobbies Metallic Lacquers over Gloss Black Base Primer.
To retain the high gloss shine of the HR Hobbies Metallic Lacquer when applying decals and weathering, we recommend using HR Hobbies Aqua Gloss Acrylic Varnish, particularly when working with solvent-based weathering products. When sprayed at the recommended pressure this varnish will not reduce the shine of the metallic finish and will provide a durable and resilient surface for decal application and weathering.
When working with water-based weathering products we recommend using the range of HR Hobbies Klear Kote Varnishes which comes in a variety of finishes.
All the HR Hobbies Varnish range can be used in conjunction with any brand and type of modelling paint, acrylics and lacquers.
